The Spirituality of Women:
Loved Ones, Rituals, and Sacred Spaces.
Saturday, February 18, 9:00 a.m. - noon, $35
This retreat invites us to look at our daily lives and uncover the sacred in the ordinary. It’s focus is on discovering the sacred spaces in our living and working areas, identifying those persons who reveal God’s love to us, and exploring those rituals, traditions, and aspects of prayer that lead us to a deeper relationship with God. The deeper meaning of our lives is revealed when we understand the connection between celebrating Eucharist at Mass and gathering around the dining room table. As we break open our lives to one another, the Spirit blesses us and reveals to us the holiness of womanhood and family.
Laura Baum-Parr, school psychologist, marriage and family enrichment presenter and retreat leader

Free will offering for the luncheon
This annual gathering is a special time of input, sharing and support for those suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses and for those who serve as their caregivers. The program begins with a presentation by Sr. Marie Micheletto RSM, who invites us to celebrate the lives of our loved ones who have passed through this life into the fullness of Life and to remember those of us who are presently dealing with cancer.  Sr. Marie reminds us that we humans are like tea bags, we don’t know our strength until we are in hot water. We are invited to give thanks for the blessings hidden in our challenges and the support we experience in community. The presentation is followed by a Liturgy with Anointing of the Sick, and a luncheon in the Servite Center of Compassion.

February 3 Why We Fight
Has the military become too important in American life? Upon departing his presidency, Dwight D. Eisenhower issued a stern, cogent warning about the burgeoning “military industrial complex,” foretelling with ominous clarity the state of the modern world with its incestuous entanglement of political, corporate, and Defense Department interests.
March 2  Temple Grandin
Temple Grandin, an autistic woman, is a professor at Colorado State University. This film chronicles her remarkable perseverance and strength through many challenges. With the support of her mother, aunt, and science teacher she developed her innate sensitivity and understanding of animal behavior. She has had a significant impact on the cattle industry in this country.
May 4  I Am
Hollywood blockbuster filmmaker, Tom Shadyac, was left incapacitated and in pain after a cycling accident.  Contemplating his mortality, he interviewed famous thinkers and doers who challenged his preconceptions about the meaning of life and human behavior.  The film focuses on how we can make this world better not just by what we do but by who we can be.

Cultivating Peace through Nonviolent Relating is a four-part program that invites us to:
~ learn about how and why violence occurs
~ discover what we often unconsciously contribute to our relationships
~ study communication skills that promote peace and avoid violence
~ explore how the dynamics of forgiveness affect our lives.
This course empowers us to become persons of peace right where we live and work.
